News Update - 1/7/10: Two years ago, volunteers of P.E.T. and staff at Redmond Humane assisted on a large animal neglect and cruelty case in Christmas Valley involving puppy mill breeders Cooper. Animal Welfare Officer Josh Capehart(and P.E.T. member) handled the case with Deputies from Lake County. The case was settled yesterday with a guilty plea of 12 misdemeanor counts, probation for Mrs. Cooper until restitution is paid to the Humane Society. She is not allowed to have animals and is not allowed to breed or sell animals. Mr.Cooper, who was not charged in this case by Lake County, may retain his few animals, but may not replace deceased animals or breed or sell animals. The Coopers will be subject to routine site checks and polygraph tests if required. Remember to donate to P.E.T. to continue these valuable efforts, we do not receive any of this restitution.
